Over the past 8 years, I have spent a considerable time and effort in researching the MIC (Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion) and its effect on the canal boats on the UK inland waters, from a surveyor's point of view. The research was prompted by the controversial opinions on MIC and the lack of practical guidence for surveyors. It resulted in a discussion paper, which was reviewd by Dr Robert Edyvean –Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering ,The University of Sheffield, past President and Fellow of the Institute of Corrosion and published in the IIMS Report Magazine - https://www.iims.org.uk/report-magazines/the-report-magazine-june-2024/
