The corrosion survey, if the circumstances allow, will consist of:
- establishing the galvanic corrosion protection of the immersed metal parts while the vessel is in the water. We use a reference electrode and reference readings in proximity to the vessel in order to determine the amount of corrosion protection of the immersed metal parts.
- determining the continuity between the anodes and the protected metal parts while the vessel is out of the water.
- detection of electrolytic corrosion/stray currents while the vessel is afloat and electrically connected to the shore or other structures (shore power supply in most cases).
